INTRODUCTION:

The Foundation of  Rural Development (FORD), which is a non-governmental, non-profit making organisation came into existence in the year 1996 with a great efforts of like-minded people in view of the backwardness and shortcomings facing  to the marginal section of the society  in the state. The organisation has been committed to render many commendable services in the field of welfare and development activities irrespective of caste, creed, sex, religions etc. Its registered office is situated at Wangjing Heitupokpi Leikai, P.O. Wangjing, Thoubal District, Manipur-795148, which is about 25 kms away from Imphal towards south along the Indo- Myanmar Road.

LEGAL STATUS:

The organisation has got its registration under both Manipur Societies Registration Act 1989 (Act 1 of 1990), Govt. of Manipur, on 31st March, 1998 with registration number 61 of 1997-98 and Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act 2010, Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India with registration No. 194200083 & section 12AA & 80G of Indian Income Tax Act 1961. Besides this, the organisation has been registered under the Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection of Children) Amendment Act, 2015 as an organisation working for the welfare, development of children who are in need of care and protection and it has also been registered  under Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.

CONSTITUTIONAL BODIES:

The organisation has two main constitutional bodies namely, General Body and Management Committee. There are 5 (five) dedicated and competent members in the Managing Committee, who are elected by the General Body for every three years. The overall policies of the organisation are formulated by General Body whereas Managing Committee is responsible   for   the smooth management of the organisation.

VISION:

The Vision of the organisation is to make it become a centre of excellence in the field of rural development by having linkage and partnership with national and international bodies/agencies, either Government or Non-Government. It envisions itself as a welfare society where all section of society enjoys with equal justice and democratic value in life. In order to realize this vision, this organization is committed:

  • To take up Rehabilitation and Welfare Programme for Children including Disabled Children who are  in need of care and protection and set up Home for Senior Citizens.
  • To take up Drug De-Addiction and Counselling Centre, Welfare Programme for Youths and Adolescents etc.etc.
  • To encourage Social Forestry, Conserving and Preserving Flora & Fauna for maintaining ecological balance and  promote art & culture, games & sports to bring about harmony & brotherhood.
  • To open Career Counselling/ Guidance Centre and promote Handloom & Handicrafts in order to solve the unemployment problem in the state and to impart non-formal education, life skill education, vocational training to rural youths and women for self employment opportunities and
  • To take up welfare activities for SCs/STs/OBCs youths and women and set up a rural public library to facilitate the students of poor families.

To take up any activities which may be beneficial to the weaker/ backward section of society.

MISSION:

The mission of FORD is to work together with active and mass participation of all communities so as to bring about peaceful co-existence and sustainable development in rural and backward areas.
